 | | | In the early half of the 24th century, the Federation led the Klingon Empire in the number of different vessel classes fielded. To catch up with the Federation, the Klingons decided to build a new BattleCruiser to replaice the aging K'Tinga class BattleCruisers as front line units. Like they had done with the K'Tinga, Klingon designers based the design for their new, K'Vort class BattleCruiser on the existing B'Rel class Scout. The identical spaceframe design was scaled up 25x allowing for a new prototype warp core to be installed along with several large fuel storage tanks increasing the K'Vort's range and power. Crew capacity was increased to 890. 2 Mk X Pulse Disruptor Cannons were installed on the wingtips, backup to these was provided by 6 Mk VIII Disruptors, 2 in the midde of each wing section and 2 aft, above the impulse engine. The design improvments firmly established the K'Vort in the Cruiser Brackett. The Mission Profile for the K'Vort is the same as the smaller K'Tinga and B'Rel class vessels, in addition to those, the K'Vort's were used as flagships during large fleet actions. Her sheer size also allowed her to undertake missions with a higher degree of risk and danger. Refits and upgrades kept the K'Vort in service for some 40 odd years until the Imperial Navy launched the new Vor'Cha class Attack Cruiser at which time the K'Vort shared her front-line roll and wasn't re-designaed as a 2nd line support ship for another 3 years when the Imperial Navy, launched their largest combat starship yet, the Negh'Var
